What the hell are they going to do with all the chocolate that Cadbury's have recalled due to suspected contamination ? Cadbury said a batch of chocolate was contaminated with waste water from a leaking pipe at its factory in Marlbrook, Western England. For " batch of chocolate " read 1 million bars. ONE MILLION BARS!!!! came from that spoilt batch which is suspected of being contaminated with salmonella. Now several other interesting questions come to mind. Firstly why would a waste water pipe be anywhere near a vat of chocolate capable of producing 1 million bars ? Why would the vat not be covered to prevent anything getting into it ? And most importantly the company learned about the incident in January, but did not report it to British authorities until last week, why ? Seems to me that if they had ordered the recall in January they may have had to bring back millions of bars and so it was more economical to let us gobble them up hoping that we wouldn't notice the extra time spent in the lavvy.
Just so you know, food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but it can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems. In otherwise healthy people, salmonella can cause high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea - but by golly the chocolate does taste good doesn't it ? A Cadbury spokesman said: 'This is being done purely as a precautionary measure, as some of these products may contain minute traces of salmonella. 'The levels are significantly below the standard that would be any health problem, but we are taking this measure as a precaution. If there are people who have eaten one of these chocolate bars today they should not worry, but they can get in touch with us if they are concerned for a full refund.' I believe you Willie Bonker but isn't it a bit late to be taking a " precaution " five months after the horse has bolted ?
